International Junior Thespian Society - Feb 2016

In February 2016, 16 students from Columbus Middle School troupe 89074 of the International Junior Thespian Society attended the festival in Denison, TX. It was a weekend of fun, fellowship, workshops, competition, and performances. Five of our students came away scoring "Excellent" in the competition categories: Kody "Cheesecake" Rickert in Stage Management and Kyla Norwood, Sebastian Rojas-Rincon, Izzy Poros, and Zac Harden in Group Musical. Three of our students also won the weekend's Junior Tech Challenge: Coen Velek, Ethan Perrigin, and Zac Harden. Seventh-grader Kyla Norwood was also selected to represent the troupe in the weekend's closing ceremony performing "You Can't Stop the Beat" with students from around the world including China and Saipan. Lastly, the troupe was honored as the 2016 recipients of the "Send a Troupe" grant which completely covered the costs for the students and chaperones attending the festival.
